To contribute to marine litter action plans at different levels
To communicate information and provide guidance based on the best available scientific knowledge
To reduce the leakage of plastics into the ocean
To support the implementation of relevant resolutions of the General Assembly
To support the implementation of legal, policy, institutional and other relevant frameworks that enforce international law relevant to marine litter and microplastics
